Where Is Hot Water Heater In A Mobile Home

The water heater in a mobile home is typically located near the back of the trailer. The location can vary depending on the type and size of your trailer.

Mobile homes come with different specifications and sizes, so not all trailers have their water heaters in the same spot. Hot water heaters are one of the most important parts of your home. Without hot water, you cannot take a shower or wash dishes.

Where Is Hot Water Heater In A Mobile Home?

There are two types of mobile homes: single-wides and double-wides.

Where is the hot water heater in a Single-wide?

A single wide has no basement so the hot water heater is usually located in the furnace room which may be upstairs over the living area or downstairs by the driveway.

The hot water heater in a single-wide is usually located in the furnace room. If the furnace is located on the side of the home then that will be where your hot water heater is as well. Sometimes this can be an area with little to no floor space and difficult to access.

If you need to replace your hot water tank in a single-wide, it is best to do it when the furnace is being replaced, too. This will give you a little more room to work and avoid any further damage to your home.

Where is the hot water heater in a double-wide?

In a double-wide, the hot water heater is located in the basement. The location may vary depending on the size of your trailer, but it is typically near the water heater tank.

A double-wide has a basement that houses both heating systems and plumbing fixtures, including the hot water heater that can be up to three times larger than a standard size unit found in an apartment/house.

The hot water heater in a modular home can be found in an outbuilding or inside the main building.

If you live in a manufactured home, then your hot water heater is located somewhere outside. Find it by looking for an outbuilding that is close to your house. If the only outbuilding you see is too far away or too small to house a hot water heater, then it is probably in the main building.

If you cannot find the location of your hot water heater, look for other plumbing fixtures like sinks and toilets.

It will be located closest to the fixture that is farthest away from where you will be using the water.

Wrap Up

The hot water heater in a mobile home is typically located on the outside of the trailer. However, there are exceptions to this rule so you may want to consult with your manufacturer for more information about where it can be found.

For example, some newer models have their tanks inside their homes while others still use an exterior tank that needs to be vented properly and drained occasionally when not in use.
